    Hey guys
I'm just about to dive headlong into buying a CNC mill any day now.
And considering my needs, I've come to the conclusion that I'll need to go for a 1000x1500 CNC..
(since I need a work area of 700x1000, as the smallest)
Thus, I've been looking at both the OX and the Workbee..
And this is where my question pops up I guess.

I would love to have my future CNC completely screw driven..
Is this at all possible at this size? (without going all crazy on my budget..)
I can't seem to find any post where there is a clear answer or instructions to this?

Any guidance or answer would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi

With the openbuilds 8mm lead screws then I would say that 1000mm is already pushing it. (I’m running it like that but it’s definitely pushing it).

You might have to look into beefier ballscrews (16 or 20mm). But then you’re in custom build land.

    Thanks for the reply Andreas!
Do you know of any builds/projects that have tackled this before.. or where i might locate information regarding the issue?

I used 1/2" 5 start lead screws from McMaster Carr in this build. I got a lot of my information from this build. More recently Daz did this to his Ox to add lead screws: Custom Ox Mods

Here is the Ox Upgrade Kit Project: Ox Upgrade Kit It should be able to be scaled to what you need.
