Mark, would I assume since I have tracking information on one box and ordered the black model, that I'll get half next week and the other half when black ships? The order page says everything shipped.

BTW guys I forgot to mention that everyone that ordered power supplies or a power supply bundle (including all power supplies/bundles with LEAD CNC Machines) during the OpenBuilds Black Friday sale is receiving a free PowerCase upgrade! After all its #GivingTuesday :)

It will come with your order and you will love them!

    Wow and thanks!

I've piecemeal built a couple of 3D printers based on some of your components that past couple of years with great results. This will be my first experience with CNC (I'm around it daily, but never hands on). I'm excited to build the kit and details like this go along way to help finalize and really tidy up the kit.

My 12 year old daughter is showing interest in the machine and CAD design on Inventor is required curriculum for a trimester every year. She is dreaming up a small keep sake box. The idea of keeping the power safe and secure without working out my own solution is simply awesome.

    Thanks!

I think we need video of this. I'm picturing somewhere between Benny Hill and I Love Lucy, but with V-slot-based conveyors and pick & place machines, and maybe a few robot arms directing traffic.

Translation: If it turns out you don't like it, pick someone random on the forums and blame them. They're probably at least partly to blame.

(but, seriously, that's an extremely encouraging statement)

Hello, Mark! I guess that's the price I pay for vanity... ah well. It's probably for the best. Right when I finally decided to settle for an ER11 spindle, I discovered I'd have to push back the purchase another week anyhow. This way everything should be showing up around the same time.

    Hello again, Mark!
I think I missed the downloads page and just ended up swearing at the browser version - I'll give the others a look & see if I can't make another attempt to overcome my fingers' constant attempts to use each and every mouse button and modifier key for exactly the wrong function.

Thanks for the reminder... during the sale I discovered some funny things the site does with currencies, but ended up distracted by my order. I'll try to put together a proper bug report to send in later.

What Mark hasn't mentioned, is that it is going to be very tight, staff-wise, as we get nearer to Christmas. The majority of Staff are in fact Elves, :D who are moonlighting to earn some extra cash for their summer holidays, but of course, they are going to be needed somewhere else very shortly, and Santa DOES take priority!!

Now I wish I had ordered an extra power supply. I decided I was probably (at least marginally) better off sticking with my 36V/10A, but those cases look awfully spiffy - definitely nicer than my current rat's nest (bat's nest?) of wires. I'll have to compare sizes & see about snagging one when I place the inevitable mid-build everything-I-forgot-to-order order.

Tell them that as long as cover the rest of my holiday giftmaking for me, they can save a trip and deliver the new machine with the rest of the loot on the big day.

(actually, there are currently no wires in Bats' nest. there does, however, appear to be a sleeping beagle)

    FIRST!! :)
Received my kit today! It came in one big box and was very well packaged. I opted for the black version with the wire kit. I unpackaged everything and I am sorting through all the nicely packaged bundles of hardware.

I already had a 24V power supply on hand so I didn't order one with the kit. :banghead: :duh:

That case does look really nice though! I was going to 3D print something similar.

lol you know they do not let us have cameras in this top secret facility! :D

I hear you the browser version is the worst. The SketchUp Make version is the one you want.

Thanks Bats we will look into seeing what could be causing this

Awesome! Thank you for your support. Have fun with the build we are looking forward to seeing what cool projects you can work on your machine.

lol yes he does, it's all about the kids

My machine was just delivered via Fedex. VERY well packaged. Two packages with extra edge support all the way around, and TONS of bubble wrap on the inside. I work in the distribution industry and was very pleased at how well everything was packed. I wish my employees would pack our outbound shipments half as well. Downside is I have another 5-6 hours of work, so I can't start building it right away.

    Thanks!

Must be better now than my recent order. Had a big dent in the Cbeam corner, and the replacement order has a smaller dent, but still useable. Needed more cusioning on the ends for 1500mm extrusion I think, as I'm sure it gets handled with less care by the courier.

I can't seem to find the

Anyone else missing this or can tell me what bag it is supposed to be in?

*Edit: checked my checklist that came with the parts and the two items above are not listed on it ( so the person followed it well).

Yes, I forgot to order a Spanner as well! :banghead:
Think maybe a price should go up a little, in a kit of wheels or plate kit, so as to include a Spanner.

A "Hey! You're probably forgetting one of these!" notice would probably save all sorts of people from making the same mistake... the only problem is how to make it not sound like a shameless "Would you like to supersize that?" upsell (which I've really really enjoyed never getting pestered by on Openbuilds - thanks!). Or maybe I'm just really sensitive to the idea of upsells because I just reserved a UHaul to go collect a new toy and had to click through FIVE PAGES of "Would you like to add a [insert catalog page here]....?".

In Josh's case, though, I got the impression he'd ordered the whole Lead CNC package, and that says on the product page under 'Bundle Contents' that it includes both the balldriver set & spanner. Could there be a mixup on the fulfillment checklist?

Here's hoping it's a one-off case. That situation may delay assembly for a bit.

Correct, I purchased the bundle which supposedly comes with the balldriver set and spanner. Ironically enough, when I initially ordered the kit, I included a balldriver set not realizing it came with one. I contacted customer service to cancel that part since it already came with one. I reached out to customer service to get it sorted. Thankfully I am not too much in a hurry. My guess is that there was a checklist sheet omitted for my order, possibly others.

Now that I think about it, when I was putting the Lead Machine in my cart, my cart showed the spanner and ball driver kit separately as well (pretty sure it had a price on it). Assuming I added them earlier when I was pondering the WorkBee, cleared my whole cart and re-added the lead machine to it..and they didn't show back up. I guess I'll see when it gets here.

I received an email notification today out of the blue that indicated a ball screw driver set and spanner wrench are on the way. $0.00

Wonder if they sent out of courtesy? Regardless, that is a very nice touch. FedEx hasn't even delivered the machine yet.

This weekend will involve building a table for the LEAD. Once it gets up and running, I hope to eventually build an enclosure for it with dust collection. The wife would appreciate a clean(er) garage.

I think it's good customer service that drove that, I received notification as well. Thanks guys/gals!
I built my table last weekend, and just need to get shims to get the top as flat as possible.
After I get mine, build and test it out, I'll be looking at some more OB parts to mod it a bit (either lowering the wasteboard, maybe adding an inch or inch and a half to the gantry extrusions to clear a double wasteboard, I haven't decided yet). I just know after I get it, I have to show the wife that it works and I'm using it..or she'll kick me out of my house, LOL. Eventually I'll add an enclosure around it for sound and some dust control. I do have a shopvac/Dust Deputy sitting in my office to help with the shavings.

The first thing to do with a new machine is to take a test cut. I recommend turning a big slab of MDF into a fancy plaque that says, in a nice elegant script font, "I love you and I'm really, really sorry about the noise and mess you're going to have to put up with from now on"

I originally meant to build an enclosure around my previous machine, but, since it was located under a makeshift loft (the graveyard of old holiday decorations), I just ended up hanging plastic sheeting from the edge and enclosing the entire area. It turned out to be convenient when I got a midi lathe and started spewing chips everywhere from that, too.

Unfortunately it ran out of space before I got the metal lathe or the bandsaw, and I have yet to figure out where I'm going to put the mill I'm supposed to be collecting this weekend.
