Id like to get some opinions on what you experts thinks is a good controller for my router running a Pro V3 flashed with GRBL. Thanks
I like Estlcam. It is free, but I felt it was worth it so much I bought the license to help support further development. I love the probing feature that allows me to engrave on curved surfaces. I also liked the ability to add an Xbox controller to it for jogging the machine around. Prior to Estlcam, I used GRBL Panel and I liked it. But, I had to produce the gcode in Fusion 360 or Sketchucam (both great tools) which for 90% of my projects was somewhat cumbersome. With Estlcam, I just save everything from Fusion 360 as a dxf file and use the CAM functionality of Estlcam to quickly create the tool paths. That being said, a few months after buying the license, the Openbuilds software came out (see tab at top of the page). It looks very promising to me and if I ever get my laser cutter done, I plan to use that to control it.
(; OpenBuilds CAM doesnt just do Lasers. Also does routers, plasma cutters (yip with lead-in and Piece Height Sensing), and Dragknives (Yip, with the required corner-swivel-actions!)
If I had room, I would build one of each! Hmmm...Maybe my laser build will also contain a drag knife mount. Thanks for the idea!
I will be building a plasma cutter after I finish my sphinx. Thanks for the heads up on the ability to use the OpenBuilds software with it. As always Peter, nice job on the software!
