Got the Workbee 1010 LS up and going. Everything works 100% EXCEPT the limit switches and homing cycle. I checked, double checked, and triple checked all the wiring and connections and the GRBL settings. I used my Fluke Meter to check continuity from switches to controller. All of that is fine. The "Trouble Shooting" in the Openbuilds driver shows no response from the limit switches, even when the switches are manually operated. Nutshell.......fishing for any ideas. Thanks!
Did you check the continuity of the switches themselves? (ie. does the diode tester read ~0 when the switch is manually closed and megaohms when it's open?)
I did. Checked continuity TO the controller & also checked across from “C” to “NO”. My Fluke Meter will beep when it’s a closed circuit. I can manually trip the limit switch & get the meter to beep. Otherwise the meter reads “OL” (open).
always get the controller working with homing and limits turned off. only when the machine moves correctly should you enable homing and test that.
I did. I’ve manually ran the machine around. I’ve even ran the “Hello World” & another project using paper & a sharpie. No problems at all til the sharpie ran out of ink, lol. It’s just like running the machine without the limit switches. I just don’t have a response from the switches when running a homing cycle or when I manually trip them as indicated in the Troubleshooting part of Openbuilds Driver. Followed all the steps in the wiring/ build video, no switch response or homing cycle, tear it apart, watch video & reinstalled the switches & checked the wiring, no response, reset GRBL settings, nothing, etc. I’ve done this process about 1/2 a dozen times.
If you're using a driver breakout shield, do you get continuity between the shield's limit pin(s) and the Arduino pin(s)? ie. Is it a board trace? Have you reflashed grbl? Double-checked all the options on the grbl wiki? It sounds like you've done everything, I'm really not sure what it could be other than a board or software issue.
I’ve seen some references about a breakout shield but didn’t purchase one. I purchased the Workbee 1010 as it’s listed in the Parts Store with the EXCEPTION of the X Pro controller. Openbuilds was out of stock when I ordered the machine so I purchased it from Circuit Specialists. The item descriptions were the same between the 2 websites HOWEVER, when I got ready to install the controller & watching the wiring video, the controller I ordered ended up to be a V0.9. The controller in the video is V1.1 (according to the card that was with my purchased controller & seeing the card in the video). Upon startup of the Openbuilds Drivers, it says that current version 1.1 is installed. I haven”t tried to reflash the controller as it”s Championship Saturday for football & I’m “busy”, lol. I haven’t tried any other settings in GRBL besides what is stated in the wiring build video.
