I initially wrote about making a 3d printed cover to keep the debris out of this case in this thread, OpenBuilds Sphinx 1050 , but thought this would be a better place to put this info. I redid this design some more to make it one part for the bottom. I have not purchased this case yet, so will not actually print it until then. I might need to countersink the holes for the 4 screw standoff connections after looking at this again. I also am considering adding another angled plate at the top for extra protection as is shown in 2 of the photos. I used the slotted holes at about 115mm apart for the v-slot connections instead of where the wiring video uses them on the sphinx design. I would have to change the ribbed bottom if I used those holes & 115mm apart seemed wide enough. This is to mount on a sphinx CNC, but the V-slot holes could be any of the other holes. I am using openscad for the design & it is fairly easy to change that. Once I finish this, I will post the design to thingiverse. Think there is about 1/2" gap for the wires to come into the case on the sides or top. It is sized to 218mm in the longest print direction & would need print support. if printed on the longest angled side, you would not need support. Let me know if you have any thoughts on this design.
I did a little more rework on this after I realized that I could get rid of my overhangs by adding the standoff to the bottom case and adding nut traps for the M3x20mm screws. I also redid the top fan mount to be able cut different grill patterns. I used a design on thingiverse as a template that had 4 fanguard patterns. By redoing the fan mount it also gave me more opening on the sides for cables so I did not have to cut any out of the sides of the bottom case. I will ponder a few more days before I decide to print it. what are the dimensions of the open case? X and Y, im looking at where I can install it on my Workbee 1050
I downloaded the sketchup file & it measures 184mmx110mmx47mm. I took out the extruding screws & nuts for that measurement.
Hello Adam, The OpenCase does not ship with #4 10mm screws to mount the V4 as of yet but we are looking to include them as soon as possible. Thank you Adam
Hello @Rob Atha Mounting the xPRO V4 to the OpenCase is explained in this OpenCase - Mounting an xPRO v4 As for the motor wiring it is pretty much the same as the XPRO V3 wiring/Software video used in the wiring videos of the machines. Please have a look at the LEAD CNC machine wiring and software video where we wire the xPRO v3 to an OpenBuilds LEAD CNC. Here we go in depth of how to hook up a machine to a controller and then use the OpenBuilds CAM and OpenBuilds CONTROL software packages. This should get you up and running. Hope this helps
