Hello All, I don't think this needs an entire thread but just a quick question... Should blue Loctite be used on the various bolts holding the machine together? (Specifically, about to build a LEAD CNC 1010) Particularly on the set-screws on the NEMA motor shaft and lead screw...but also pretty much all the other bolts as well. (I have a background building R.C. helicopters and blue Loctite was your friend in that hobby - this is my first CNC build though). Thanks, Don
Be aware, you will get some galvanic corrosion from the steel screws that tap into aluminum. From my experience, the screws that hold the end plates on C-beams will get "Stuck" on and require a little more force to break loose. Usually a Pop will happen you can smell a funny odor from it. Not sure what that's called. I've had to take mine apart a lot of times for adjustments, wheel replacements, upgrades etc. In reality, it would be better to use Anti-seize on them. The screws to T-nuts don't have this problem as they are both steel.
