I am planning to replace linear rods with Vslots on X and Z for time being. Are wheels much smoother than rods and are the really precise as advertised? I know most recent chinese printers are using them. Did you go with 3 or 4 wheels per axis. The plan is 3 on Z x2 and 3 on X axis for hot end. I believe 3 wheels is easier to adjust than 4.
For a 3d printer I would suggest 3 wheels with one eccentric for adding preload. You can use a plate like the V-Slot 20mm plate. This will work on the 20mm side of any of the V-Slot profiles and can have 3 or four wheels and the use of delrin Solid V Wheels as they will run much smoother then the Xtreme Solid V Wheels which would be overkill for a 3d printer.
