Just checked out the Openbuilds Poland Acro system its got nice aluminum plates on it, any chance on getting some black anodized aluminum Acro plate sets in?
First request for this! Anyone else want to vote this up? The ACRO is a light duty frame ie: laser, drawbot, pick and place applications so for our design, the acrylic plates work very well and help keep this machine within reach of everyone.
I would love aluminum plates. I already cracked one of my acrylic plates. There is a machinist at my school that says he can make aluminum plates but I have to get him printed 2d drawings with measurements.

If you have sketchup (it is free), you can use this program to print them at a 1:1 scale Printable plate files (read the posts at that link). This is how I built my CNC machine. I had no access to a CNC to cut mine so I used a table saw, scroll saw, and drill press.
I can get them machined for free at school. They will be manually machined in the school shop and they have a rule about all projects being dimensioned. I appreciate your input.
was wondering if anyone ever came up with an aluminum set of Acro plates? while I realize this is a light duty frame, it would be advantageous to have less brittle plates when moving the machine and also to survive normal workshop collisions. has anyone made a set or can someone recommend a maker that could mill these from 6061?
I have never done it, but I have milled many custom plates out of aluminum. It would be relatively easy. My new Sharkbits 1/4" 3 flute was chomping on aluminum this past weekend. I can easily source 1/4" aluminum to do it. Or 1/8" if that is preferable.
