I haven't emailed Brandon but does anybody here know what happened to hobby fab? Cannot seem to get to their site. I want to spec out some parts on here C beam parts to upgrade my R7 to be 8 feet long. I wont change the gantry width just the Y axis beams. I want to order longer lead screws and c beam to make my machine 8 feet long. Any advise would be appreciated from the biggest and best community of builders that exist!!
The issue is 8' long 8mm acme screws wont work, they will whip at any speed. Belted or rack and pinion are your options. It looks like Hobby-Fab.com and smw3d.com are no longer around.. Cheers Gary
SWM3D/HobbyFab was just a distributor (with some custom plates, etc), so you can still get most parts direct from OpenBuilds Part Store - for custom lengths etc just http://support.openbuilds.com/support/home
