Great job @pedrofernandez this looks really cool. I like how you have the freedom on this design to adjust one side up and down to allow for different bottle shapes.

this was a half time show idea !!! that rotary is for the franken40 and will be attached to the z axis structure but removable not permanently fixed like the k40 cube, profile is tall in order to be able to engrave large beer mugs with handles cheers..

Let me know how you like it when it's finished. I use a chuck rotary and I love it. A few months back I purchased a rotary off of eBay with a similar design but I found it to be too jerky, especially when the print job was done and the machine would reset to the home position, the glass would just end up flying. Could have just been me though but I returned it. When I'm done with the current build (oh so close) I'm planning on making my own chuck rotary.

I went ahead and added a link to the eBay listing. Hey, who knows if it turns out good you could make some money selling those. @$245 each there is a nice profit margin.

Co2 Laser Rotary Engraver cutter attachment works with K40 x700 and others! | eBay

This is for the DSP controller, the one for the Cohesion board on the K40 Cube is all set and running with a dual stepper on series using GRBL-LPC 4 axis external driver firmware.

    Hi Pedro,
Very cool! A rotary Laser tool on a Laser cutter opens up so many more applications.
Please keep us updated. Also, can you post a pic of the Yeti tumbler, that was worked on?
It would be interesting to see the engraving detail. TIA.
    Regards,

    That looks great!
I know very little about using lasers in reality, so it begs this question.
I was thinking the other day about reflection? Do you not have to take care of any chance of reflection from the surface of, say, glass or similar?
I know they do make a spray material for this sort of thing.
Do you, or will you, be using something like that?

Normally you want to protect your self more from the "welder flash" generated at contact with the material with this lasers than a reflection, but the machine is covered with acrylic sheet on the lid and all safety precautions are taken in mind, The product used for engraving the bare metal SS is called Laserbond, Cermark, and many other brands, even CRC dry moly lube from your local autoparts will work but as well

I bought the belt and pulleys you suggested...But it seems everywhere I am reading about the steppers for the lasers they all are 0.9 degrees and I did build the rotary but it when I do something the artwork is distorted like a circle will be an oval... Any suggestions I am using the K40 with Corelaser....? Thanks for getting back to me so fast

I use different type of controllers that allow me to change the step pulse configuration, in the case of your stock K40 M2 Nano controller that is not posible, even using a 0.9 Deg motor will cause distortion unless your round object circumference is perfectly match to the controller configuration, so you will need to distort you graphic in order to have a good result, my suggestion for you is to upgrade your machine controller with a Cohesion laser board that it is a drop in replacement for the M2 Nano and get Lightburn software, the good thing about, it is the dedicated extra stepper driver for a rotary axis and be controlled via the software, some people find the laser board a bit over price but it worth the change, also the firmware is very easy to edit and make your rotor work like a charm.

I see lots of questions here. Although no apparent info on the rotary axis, I noticed on his machine the website Welcome to Franken 40 Build Project - DIY K40 Laser where there is a ton of detail on the rest of the build. Good stuff! I can't wait to modify my K40.

Fantastic build! One question I have, did you print the end plates or purchase them? I'd love to build this but don't have a 3D printer (currently).
