Timing belt vs lead screws

    I am thinking about buying an ACRO machine bundle for cnc routing. I am concerned abot the timing belt slipping. Any advice would be helpful.

    Hi Sully, the Acro is a lightweight system designed more for laser diodes, drawbots or printers. Unless you plan on using it for very light foam and balsa machining you would be better served by a Lead Machine, WorkBee, or Sphinx.
    As for the belts, they have teeth which engage a pulley on the motor and I've never had one slip on my Ox.

    Don't - the Acro system is a lightweight design suitable for plotters, lasers. It cannot take the heavier Z axis (doesn't come with one - you would have to add one) needed to hold a router or spindle. Look at the Openbuilds Lead machine or the Workbee (there are others but those two are among the latest designs - both tried and tested by many users). We can be a bit more specific with advice if you give us an idea what sort (and size) of jobs you want to do.
