I'm planning to replace my little generic 3018 CNC with a larger DIY. All the machines I have seen place the spindle motor in front of the supports, which places all the weight there, which my engineering background says is a bad idea. We plan to support the motor per the enclosed drawing. Any comments appreciated.
The concern isn't and has never been weight. The concern is loading. I understand the whole balancing thing, but in a realistic scenario, if your machine flexes as a result of spindle placement, nothing you do will fix the issue.
