Yes, but it is tricky to initiate the install. You also have to downgrade to v2.00. Remember that carts must be initialized to under 100%. You cannot do that with the FW upgrade in place.
Went to 3D Systems site, to download the software, and the storefront is closed (which is no surprise to anyone). How does one get the software to run a used machine?
Hello everyone, I am a proud owner of a Cube 3D Printer Gen3 (LOL) and I have applied the 1.14b firmware. It seems to be working fine. From what I am reading there is newly updated firmware available (2.00) but there is a lot of conversation on what printers it will work on. Can someone clarify for me? What is the latest firmware is available and what should I be using. As an additional request. I would like to monitor the status of my print jobs outside of the "Cube Print" software does anyone have any advice? Thank you advance. Greg
Tom, Thanks for the link. Just to clarify, is the link you sent for the software to be installed on the p.c., or the firmware for the printer? I am looking for the software to put on my p.c. If this is what I'm looking for, what do I do with an XML file?
The link covers everything Cubify. Firmware, apps, notes, etc. Someone really should back that site up somewhere.
Could you point me in a direction of how to proceed, as I have no idea what to do with an XML file, in order to run it on my p.c. Thanks for your help too!
Sorry, indeed there may need to be instruction. The root site is http://cubify.s3.amazonaws.com/ This should open up the XML file to see all the data. In this case, the data are pointers. You can search the site for your particular file but you need some level of understanding of what you are looking for. v2.00 and CubePro are good search parameters. You will run across this entry: <Contents> <Key>Printers/Cubepro/cubepro V2.00.ar</Key> <LastModified>2017-05-07T23:33:45.000Z</LastModified> <ETag>"d6909d4b7c2043693c717751c70e62d4-6"</ETag> <Size>34539296</Size> <StorageClass>REDUCED_REDUNDANCY</StorageClass> </Contents> Take the red parts and attach it to the primary link - http://cubify.s3.amazonaws.com/ ...and you get: http://cubify.s3.amazonaws.com/Printers/Cubepro/cubepro V2.00.ar Going to that link will initiate a download request of the file you are looking for.
I am not sure if anyone is reading this thread still but I will pose the question. I have a CubePro and have installed V2.0 firmware and it works fine. I did run in to a problem with the material, I currently do not have a PLA cartridge/chip and well you can imagine it did not end well for my first print job. I am a teacher and several teachers in the area are working with a local hospital to make PAPR (Powered air-purifying respirator) for nursed and doctors, but I can not use ABS. I contacted 3D systems for a cartridge and waiting their response. So this is my back up plan, is there anyway to trick the system so I can change the temp so the PLA will work. I went through all of the threads and I may have missed it since there was a lot of comments, any help would be great. Thanks
People still reply. I'm happy to reprogram a chip for you if you send it to me with a self address return envelope. Connect with TommyDee on the Print3dforum.com. Signup required. Of you can downgrade the CubePro app to v1.87 and you can edit those files to change the material. FW V2.00 on the CubePro will still work.
Thank for the reply, ok so I will try the down grading of the firmware, do you know where I can find it by chance? I can do a search but figured if you knew exactly I would ask. Now if I recall I will have to rename that FWv1.87 to the current FW I have on my Machine correct? And I can always reinstall the current FW when I am done. If I can't get that to work I will try sending it to you or talk to TommyDee. I figured I would post just in case someone was still listening on here. I really appreciate the help.
Not the firmware - the CubePro application is what you want. https://cubify.s3.amazonaws.com/Printers/Cubepro/cubepro_1.87.exe The output from this version can be edited with common Cube file editors.
I think I can change the filament type when I want to print it but when I try to print, it is still reading the chip as ABS and well that was a mess when I re spooled the cartridge with PLA. I knew it was going to be a different temp but took a chance and well I had to take it a part to clean the extruder. Or am I reading your reply wrong?
Sorry, I thought you understood the need to edit the file to fool the system. If you don't have the chip for PLA, you load PLA in a cartridge with the ABS chip. You run the slicer as PLA. You then change the material code from PLA to ABS in the print file. Now you have a PLA print file with the header saying it is ABS. If you need help beyond this, please join the Print3Dforum.com and we can walk you through it further.
OK I think I understand, but I actually just registered on Print3dForum.com. I will be on login in soon, have to do something then will try to look in the forum, Thanks.
This is my first post so I am very pleased to meet you !! do You have any idea where I can buy 2 more cartridges for my cube pro trio ?
Thank You Tom -fact, it's actually the best place. I have one more question - / maybe i give my printer a second life /. Do You know the way to use another slicer ?? (for Cube Pro Trio firmware v2.00)
Yes. People have successfully utilized Simply3D and even Cura. Cura has a BFB profile that makes really good BFB files that require some processing. A simple header and footer is the needed for the printer to recognize the file. Please join the Print3DForum and look for Buddybu and his file editor. It is amazing for grafting BFB files into headers and footers. We've also had limited success with taking Cube3 files into CubePro. The Cube3 slicer is arguably better than the CubePro at cosmetic things. Best deal in the USA for CubePro and Cube3 carts is DCCOUTLET on eBay. Several transactions to date.
cura is super especially 14.05 with bfb support. But I've tried all the ways: g-code command for cura and codex, ....none of this there is an error either on unconfigured materials or an unsupported file. I decoded the original .cubepro and copied the header ....also nothing. Do you have any ready recipes. especially for cura and cube pro trio ?? file modified by codex normaly opens with cubepro slicer but without information about type materials or time to finish. From usb stick i have always error - in fact i'didnt tried by wifi or usb cable but ithink its the same...am i right ?
I never followed up on it. I just confirmed it is possible and there is now an editor to do some global corrections.
ok, thanks I looked up a bit and thanks to your suggestion I found information about the Buddybu editor and translating bfb into cube files... thanks a lot
if I have one cartridge initialized and I would like to buy an additional new one - do I have to go back to the original firmware, initialize cartridge, and then upload again hacked ? ps. have you noticed any problems with the heating fan after loading hacked firmware ??
I don't have the hack in place but yes, you will have to initialize a cartridge to work with the hack. There may be a caveat with CubePro. Cube3 would work with 100% cartridges from the CubePrint app after the internal buffers fill. But it would not let you use the 100% from a USB initiated print. CubePro may do the same after a while. I also reset chips for people. Join the Print3DForum and find there. I am TommyDee on the Forum.
