I have a 100-watt Chinese CO2 laser that I'm going to be replacing the motion system on. It's current bed size is 1000x600. I had thought to just essentially build an Acro system inside the housing to move the mirror mounts and laser head, but I'm wondering how the wheels-and-rails setup will work with the sensitivity of the mirrors and a laser beam that can be as much as five feet long. Any vibration will affect the mirrors and be exaggerated over distance. Any thoughts on this?
If the motion system is anything let me the K40, I would think the acro style will be an improvement. The Openbuilds v wheels are very smooth running. I am in the process of doing something similar with my k40. Although my overall cutting area will be only 1' by 2'. There are several builds in here that are a similar size to your's that you could get ideas from.
