Mark, I sent a email but haven’t heard anything back yet.

Does the machine come with everything you need?
On the C-Beam options is shows that there is a control board that is out of stock. If I buy the machine, what control comes with it?
Do you sell the water cooled spindles?
      Do you offer free shipping
If I’m close to you can I pick up the package to save on shipping cost?

Hello @Benfish65 Thank you for contacting me. It looks like the Part Store Team is reaching out to you on this as we speak, but I can say that there is a wiring video in the works for the the C-Beam Machine and the BlackBox! It should be available soon. Thank you and all the best with your Build.

I'm very new to all this. Considering this package: black rails, wiring kit, NEMA high torque motors, power bundle, thinking of opting for blackbox controller, and the dust shoe. I'm thinking of purchasing Vcarve to complement the LEAD 1010 along with using openbuilds software. Would you mind letting me know if this is everything I would need to get started? Do instructions for assembly come with the build?

Hey RC. I searched for this on the Xcarve Facebook page and found a topic that discusses this with several people and they all say that they have moved their machine after it was assembled. With that I'm probably going to assemble mine inside and move it outside after its done.

Mark I seen you replied to someone about a phone number for support in April of last year. I am looking to buy the Lead Machine and I’d like to purchase it through your eBay store as I have a PayPal offer that expires tonight at midnight.

Any chance you know how to make that happen?

I’ve emailed the parts store. Sent a message of Facebook, and filled out a contact form.

I have until midnight to make the order.

Can you recommend a C-Beam Linear Actuator Bundle that has been used or would work well for the original OX build? I am looking for an upgrade from mine that would give me a stiffer z axes. Has anyone done this?.

@Mark Carew Hello Mark, So we decided to go with the bigger size V Wheels than the mini wheels. However I have one question about the wheels. Are these V Wheels corrosion resistant and is it okay for to be used outdoor?

Hello, The plastic can be compromised if using conventional oil, so be sure that only silicone is used. You should be able to use them outdoors as the FarmBot guys do this for their framing robot and it seems to be working just fine. Testing would be your best bet to see if this works for you. All the best with your Build, please be sure to share so we all learn from one another.

Hello Mark, I am currently assembling Delrin Mini V Wheel Kit on a M5 screw and I have 8x5x1 precision shims on both sides of the wheel. When i tighten the assembly and roll the wheels, it makes clicking noise, which makes me think that the shims rubbing against the outer rim of the wheel bearing. Is there a way to fix this problem? Perhaps smaller OD shims? I have a shim in between the bearings
      1. Mark Carew
        Mark Carew
Hello @jw42lee this clicking noise I believe is actually a bad bearing. I have had this happen in the past and that usually the case and happens from time to time in manufacturing. Please reach out the OpenBuilds Part Store Team with your order # and they will get you taken care right away. http://support.openbuilds.com/support/home

      Hello Mark,

I had XPRO V3 working fine, until this afternoon. I was configuring homing settings and after making necessary changes to grbl config.h file and compiled it in Arduino, I was flushing the .hex file to my XPRO board, when suddenly all the light on the board turned off and I can only see the 5V green LED, and flickering green LED on the USB port on the board.

Turned all powers off and reconnect all cables and tried to power on the board, but there is only the 5V green LED, this time this is from 24V reaching the board. Other than that no LED of the motors is on, lifeless. Universal GCode sender, connects to the port but grbl information is not replied.

I am posting this to others too, as I am a bit panicking.

        Help, please.

I just had one question but the accuracy of the system. How accurate do you think we would be able to control the linear position of the trolley on the linear rail?

      Hey Mark, I am new to the CNC community. I was looking at buying a C-Beam and was wondering if this build would be OK to use a laser diode down the road and alternate between them? And would I need to change out anything on the machine in order to do this i.e. boards, frame work etc;
      1. Mark Carew
        Mark Carew
Welcome to the awesome OpenBuilds community! Yes I see no reason why you could not attach a laser diode down the road if you would like to, in fact guys here do it all the time in that they have both diodes as well as mills on the same machine. Hope this helps and we look forward to your Build, please share.

Hi Mark, I'm just getting started with DIY CNC machines and love all the info here at Openbuilds. I want to build a machine similar to the Ox you did but I'll have to do it in increments. Do you think I could use Corian (a solid surface counter-top material) to make the plates, it's 1/2 inch thick, very sturdy and machines nicely. Thanks, I'm chompin at the bit to get started!

      Mark,

I love the MiniMill and plan to purchase the build kit. However, I am already interested in increasing the X axis travel and thought about purchasing a longer piece of C-beam and longer lead screw to do so. What is the maximum you think can be supported off of the Y axis travel C-beam without changing the entire design. I'm willing to purchase reinforcement pieces as necessary.

      Thanks,
      Michael Dwyer

      Hello,
Need some advice regarding choosing between C- Beam XL or OX.
Plans are to later add 17W diode laser on Z axis.
Which one is to preffer. If I choose OX I will almost att once change it to OX Metal with lead screws so cost will be the same.
I do not like belts on any machine.
      All tips are wellcome.

It sounds like your best set up right out of the gate would be to go with the lead screw driven C-Beam XL if you are wanting a lead driven machine to work with a diode this should work well for you. You can always use it to make plates as well if you decide to go with a larger machine down the road.
