Here's a fun project you can do on your LEAD 1515 or LEAD 1010 CNC machine.
- Machine Type:
- OpenBuilds LEAD Machine
- Software:
- SketchUp and Vectric Vcarve Pro
- Electronics:
- OpenBuilds BlackBox
- Machine Time:
- varies
- Bit or Laser Size:
- 1/4" Downcut 2 flute
- Materials:
- 3/4" plywood
This build was created for the LEAD 1515, however I also created files for the LEAD 1010 so it can be made on either machine.
Software used:
1) SketchUp for the layout and modeling
2) V Carve Desktop Pro for the tool pathing (alternatively OpenBuilds CAM could be used)
3) OpenBuilds CONTROL for reading the gcode and controlling the machine to follow the toolpaths
Please know that there are many CAD and CAM options available for creating projects like this.

I used wood workers double sided tape to hold the plywood in place.
I used only a single Down-Cut 2 Flutes Solid Carbide End Mill 1/4" bit to cut all tool paths.
TIP: I recessed several alignment holes to allow for pilot holes so I could add dowels or screws (not sure what we want use yet)
Be sure to use a good strong glue like Tite Bond to ensure a good connection that will last.
Here are some example finishes to help you visualize the final project.
p.s. If you make one, please be sure to share your Bear Chair Project here.
Hope you enjoy the project!
