With so many projects im constantly changing bit on my router but until today i had them all scatter in the shop, so i decided to make a little tray to put everything in one place.
This is categorized as Intermediate because of the multiple bit used. I also this an epoxy inlay that could be some trouble if you have not played with that before
The process was like this:
- Designed the desired shape in Rhino ( This is one of the most powerful apps out there )
- Loaded into LaserWeb4 and create the different operation. Mind that i executed them separately to
account for the tool change
- The 3 operations where:
1 - Pockets and Outside Profile cut with 1/4" bit
2 - Drill operations with 1/8" bit
3 - Pocket for the letter with 1/16" bit
- After milling i mixed the epoxy with some mica power and gilled the letter pocket
- 24h later when the epoxy was cured i sanded it down flush
- Applied Danish oil and let it dry then a coat of wax and some bufing
I hope you enjoy the video bellow!!!!
