Cutting board built by using long strips of Bubinga and Hard Maple, cut into smaller strips, turned on it's end and glued into a checker pattern. Juice slot and hand grips cut with ball nose bit. Lots of good videos out there on how to make cutting boards. While this project is in the Openbuilds CNC project area, 95% of the work was not on the CNC, it was on the table saw. But the CNC gives it a very professional finish. Oh, and I did use the CNC with a 1" surfacing bit to help clean up the top and bottom before sanding.

A thickness planer is pretty essential to this process, as well. When you are making long strips of glued boards and need them flat before the next step, it's pretty much the only way to do it. However, do not put your end grain up assembly into the planer, or you could have a dangerous disaster.

This cutting board was built to sell at a charity auction at work. It ended up being about 15"x10" I think and weighed almost 10lbs once it was properly oiled (food grade mineral oil bath + Howard's Butcher Block Conditioner).

It did sell... for $270 :)
