I recently purchased Vectric Vcarve Pro and decided I would try to make a 3D carving of a duck as a Christmas gift for my duck hunter Son. This was my 1st attempt at doing anything true 3D and I couldn't be happier with the results. The stl file was purchased from Etsy and the live edge stock came from my local Lowes store. The wall hanging is about 16" x 24". I found the Vectric software to be excellent and easy to use. The stl file was very detailed and the tiny 0.5mm ball nose cutter did an excellent job. The final tool path took a little over 3 hours and it was fun to watch it transform the rough cut into the detailed duck. A few coats of tung oil was applied to seal the wood and enhance the carvings detail. The whole process was really so easy I would consider this to be a beginners project.
