Hello! I want to convert my Z Axis of Lead 1010 to linear guides to get more stiffness. (I attach the photos of similar solutions). Do we have any official specifications of best or recommended solutions and products? The easiests would be to screw guides to the back of C BEAM just exacly as it is now and I would only have to prefabricate plate where the trucks and plate of X gantry connect and also move farther anti backlash nut. Maybe some of you guys did this already? Maybe you have the exact specs of the plate and mounting holes? Thank you very much!
High Z Mod for Lead CNC is an off-the-shelf rigidity upgrade. Extra beam greatly increases the rigidity (even more than guides on a single rail, as that is still subject to twist)
Yeah but still look where is the weakest link (photo). Frame is rigid and looking as a monster, Z is mounted on two rails, we have 8 up to 12 sets of wheels on X and then we mount router on .... 4 wheels. And that is the exact problem I have. My lowest router wheel is turned full eccentric and I have play between them and the whole rigidity of my machine is compromised just by the set of wheels holding a router to the beam (Of course in 1010 it is a lil bit different - the Z beam is held by wheels to the plate, but the logic of it is the same I suppose). I posted yesterday about adding another eccentric to the opposite side of actual eccentrics in wheels of the router part. Maybe doing this would stiffen it?
Thats not a weak point normally (axial twist causes deflection in the beam, not the wheels) All parts genuine OpenBuilds parts? Then http://support.openbuilds.com/support/home will be happy to replace any that doesnt meet the spec
