    Hey people.

Hello, I have a 1515 Piranha CNC mill, where the right side of the Y axis suddenly becomes skewed relative to the left side.
There can be a long time between occurrences of the problem.
What could be the cause of this?
Would it help to install an Y-limit sensor on the right side as well? And how would this be done correctly?

That is most likely an intermittent wiring fault - check the wiring to the motor that doesn't keep up with the other one. If it's not happening very often it might be quite hard to find, but look first where wires are clamped into connectors, use a multimeter to check for continuity and wiggle wires while you are testing (might take more than one pair of hands :)). Worst ones to find are breaks in the copper inside the insulation - pay particular attention to places where the wire bends back and forth as the machine moves.

Thanks for the advice, I'll try it and see if it helps the problem.
Sometimes the right Y axis can also find itself running crooked if you move the Y axis forward or backward at a relatively high speed over the middle of the work area, it seems as if it skips steps

That could also be the cause of your problem if your max speeds or acceleration settings are too high.
Post your grbl settings so we can see if they are sensible. Do you regularly lubricate your leadscrews? - DRY ptfe or silicone spray ONLY - no oil.
    Alex.
