Has anybody tried a brushed 18 volt drillmotor for a spindle? Using a gear multiplier, can you get satisfactory speed? Just trying to repurpose a useful motor. I have an old Milwaukee and DeWalt motor just lying around.
I don't think that drill motors with gearboxes work well for CNC routing. Router motors are better suited for CNC routing.
Hi Pla, Several problems with a drill motor and chuck. First it won't be very true running, drills are known for bad runnout. Also, it will not be very fast, top RPM will be something ~ 2000 RPM, for small end-mills typical need is ~20k RPM. Cheers Gary
I stripped motor bare, no chuck, bare shaft and was going to connect an ER-11A collet direct to shaft, or make a 1-4 gear ratio ER-11A extension with two bearing fixed. Locked in a router style clamp. Small scale milling. Plastics, Delrin, wood. I really want to do small aluminum parts.
