Hi Guys ive built an OX CNC And need to know how to run the 2 x X Axis motors to run as one! And I have 2 x motors NEMA 23 for the X axis one on each side Im using the NSUM Controller and tried putting the 1st X axis into X port and the 2nd Nema 23 into the A axis Then using Mach3 slaving the A axis to the x Axis But doesn’t work how do you do it? Many thanks Ive Just put both Nema 23 motors into the x Axis port and work but don’t want to keep them that way, I wanted the 2nd X Axis nema 23 to go into the A Axis output? But wont turn when ive tested it Spent a good few hours googling reading testing before posting!
Hi Adamski. Welcome to the Forum With regard to your problem, I think maybe we need to establish some axis references. Take a look at this first so we know we are talking about the same thing. CNC Axis Reference Gray
oops!!!!!!!!!!!! So its 2 x "Y" Axis motors i need synced I seen this video on youtube and think this might work for my ox cnc?
I believe, in the world of industrial machines and lathes, this Google reference was/is the given method of labeling the axis. However, although I don't know why, the naming I showed you became the accepted format for the Hobby CNC machines that we deal with nowadays. I'm sure someone will be able to give you the definitive answer sooner or later on here. Anyway at least we will all be singing from the same hymn sheet now, and your problem will be easier for us to help you with.
To try and help, you do appreciate that the whole premise is that:- Because you are using 2 x belts, one each side, that therefore one motor is turning one way, and the other is turning the opposite way, to achieve the same direction? Okay, So therefore, one motor must be wired the opposite to the other. Normally, unless there are power restraints, the common way, is, to feed the drivers from the same axis port, if for no other reason than they will be absolutely synced. I have not done this myself, but it is quite feasable to run them from different axis ports, but you must make sure that you have taken the "direction of turns" into consideration. Please forgive me if I am telling you stuff you know already, but it is difficult to decide how much someone knows at the beginning. Let's hope you belt turns up soon. By the way, are you using the dual belt method? Gray
did you enable the a axis(motor4) @ the mach output signals ? edit: quick search, seems to work only with g-code (program run mode)
That picture is wrong. It would have been correct if the arrows where on the left side. Just to make it clear. It's YOUR machine. YOU determine where X and where Y is as long as you make up your mind where the left bottom corner of your machine is. That's the point that will determine your machine's X and Y. It can be any corner that you are comfortable with.
I know its a while back, have you finished your build? I have similar design and NVUM V2 controller, I however get sporadic stops in the middle of my g-code in Mach3 and USB disconnect error. Have you had any similar problems?
