I am looking to build a large vertical linear actuator to carry a 5 kg camera at < 500 rpm. I currently plan on utilizing the C-Beam® Tension XL Linear Actuator, with a longer cbeam and lead screw. I hope the tension orientation and an anti backlash nut will be a good start. In addition, I plan to implement 1) Co linear free plates to lower the unsupported rod length or 2) Two parallel tracks attached to the carriage Has anyone worked with an XL actuator in the vertical orientation before? and has knowledge/experience on the backlash that occurs?
