Guys, For the purpose of my business, I will need a CNC that can cut full 8x4 sheets - I will be keeping the ooznest as well for its ease of use. I have been looking at the blue elephant 1325 with a 3KW spindle rated at 3 phase. I understand that there is a VFD fitting in the control box. If these VFDs take single phase and convert it to three phase why is the machine 3 phase. This poses a challenge as I only have single phase at my house. I have done lots or reading around the subject but just not grasping the theory behind it. TIA Ats.
That’s a question best asked of the vendor. I’m seeing variability across that model and it’s all likely based on end user specifications.
It's a second hand machine and the owner, although skilled with woodworking is not greatly knowledgeable with CNC machines. Thanks for your reply however.
One possibility is just plain power requirements. Motion system will be using a couple kilowatt too, on a heavy steel machine like that. A single phase socket can only deliver so much power - if the machine needs more, 3-phase it will have to be. But yes, agree with @Rick 2.0 best to ask the vendor about their products - also a chance to test their pre-sales support and see how post-sale support might be
