This might change things! For sure OpenBuilds Mexico is getting one! "Game developers can easily port scanned objects right into Unity for further development work, while designers can quickly prepare files for 3D printing." Razer Stargazer Pro Depth-Sensing Webcam -Ronald
Cool. The realsense camera is another to keep an eye on. I haven't seen any scanning put into a file format we can use yet though.
Well, this "web-cam" has the Intel RealSense build in . And as you can see from the quote I made from their webpage, they promise 3D printable formats. No idea what the resolution is but it should not be that bad. I would not use it for precise modeling but for "organic objects" it would be real cool! Background elimination can be used in our overfull workshops to make nice presentation videos . I'm looking for a way to get one to Mexico and have it reviewed (or I can do it myself but time is something I don't have at the moment ). -Ronald
Ahh. It's using real sense. Okay. Yeah. I've been waiting for this too. Have you found any newer proof of concepts for scanning and printing as of late? like file handling and all. I haven't seen anything more recent. It's been awhile since I last looked though. I'm headed over to yt now.
The web-cam will be released soon, in a few weeks, and I presume there will be some reviews too. I can't tell if the software provided will save for example an STL file, but their sales talk brags about it; I don't think Razor will put their name for grabs . We'll see! . -Ronald
Alright, So, the webcam above should do what this device does ( Sense 3D Scanner | Order My Sense | 3D Systems ), sure wired, for almost 1/3 of the price. The software is free from 3Dsystems. So, basically the webcam works with any program that uses Intel realSense . -Ronald
There is a whole new future with these 3D scanning devices. Its possibilities ans potential seem endless. Input. Input. Input.
