What are the recommended free solutions to generating 3D Toolpath? I am exploring the limits of the CBeam machine, Especially in milling complex shaped designs.
Free: Kiri:moto (Youtube tutorials a must, its UI is quite hard to understand) Paid: Vectric (easiest, good investment all round) or Fusion360 See docs:software:overview [OpenBuilds Documentation]
Another option is Estlcam. It is free, but the $59 paid for option is better because the free version reminds you it is free when you are generating code. I use Estlcam and love it for general CAM, and it actually worked the best for me for a gift I made for my wife for Christmas. That all being said, I also bought Vcarve desktop a year ago and it makes generating 3D carving tool paths so easy you may even feel a bit guilty about having to use so little of your own brainpower. It makes it quick and easy. Plus the 3d caving preview has saved me many pieces of expensive wood when I first started doing 3D carves.
