For a 65mm air cooled 0.8kw - the more appropriately sized VFD spindle, a LEAD1010 will be fine.

If you can do return and get the right one would be easier. For such a heavy spindle however (and the overspec'ed kilowatts) consider the High Z kit to add a 2nd X rail to deal with sag and twist

Sorry to hijack. I just got a 65mm 800w spindle (so much quieter!) but I am cutting my first hardwood since getting this and doing an inlay. The z-axis loses height throughout the cut, 2-3 mm for a small cut area. The cut is domed in the center, then it comes by for the second pass and there is more material to cut through.

This spindle is much heavier than the router I bought with the machine. Do I need the high-z?

    I have the 1515 machine.

Usually no, 1515 already has dual X rails. Maybe just dial down max rate, acceleration for Z in Grbl Settings. Make sure you adjusted Z axis current correctly. And make sure its mechanically sound (maybe slipping leadscrew due to loose sets crews on shaft coupler?)
