How accurate are the dimensions for OpenBuildPartsStore Machines? For instance, I was looking at the Sphinx 20x40.Is it from furthest point motor tip to motor tip 40" in longest dimension and 20 in the other? or is that frame size and we need to add an arbitrary amount (depending on steppers) to that 20x40? Also, why is no Z listed? Anyone have a Sphinx and can measure motor tip to motor tip (as motors hang off sides of it) and also give me a Z? Is there an actual full footprint chart somewhere with Z? I know this may be difficult as different steppers change dimensions. Just trying to figure it out a bit better.
If no one replies, you can download the complete model in Sketchup and do the measurements in the program which is a free program. Or, in Fusion360. Whichever you prefer.
This is true, but still worried steppers or something may be slightly different. I have a soundproof enclosure from a different project that may just barely fit this, depending. I'm stuck in an apartment, so would love to reuse it vs having to build another one and thus blowing my budget for what I want to accomplish.
The 20 x 40 is the frame size. 1000mm X extrusion and 500mm Y extrusion. Then, you need to add on the thickness of the 2 C-Beam End Mount plates (24mm total) on the Y axis and the the 40mm spacers for the steppers and the steppers themselves. On the X you need to add the 40mm spacers, a stepper motor length, and two gantry plate thicknesses at 6.35mm each. I do not know what stepper you chose, but the dimensions for the ones included in the kit are here:
