I am new to the open builds world and have built a c-beam with a Blackbox controller. Everything seems to be setup correctly. Test hello world run fine. I have been trying to do a cribbage board as my first project. I used Inkscape to create the drawings. I setup everything in Open Cam and tool paths. the simulation runs fine. Then create the g-code and send it to Open controller from the Cam and it loads and previews fine. When I actually run the job it drills the majority of the crib board holds as expected but for some reason random ones get misaligned. I have tried every thing I can think of. I see you have some experience and thought I would reach out for some guidance if possible.
Hi ekalynchuk, Looks like step loss, are you going full depth passes? what is your depth of cut and speeds? what bit? Post your settings and the file if you can. Might be motor flex couplers set screws slipping Cheers Gary
Thanks for the tip. I checked all the motor mounts and tightened them all. I am going to run another test and see how it does. I am stepping 0.25mm for each hole 4mm depth. I am using 1.5mm end mill bit set to the drill tool path. If this test is the same I will try and pull some settings files.
Is the endmill a "plunge" endmill? If it has no center cutting edges it cannot plunge on a drilling toolpath - may pull itself off to the side on entry Apart from that, check all grubscrews on shaft coupler for leadscrews/motors / pulleys etc - loose set / grubscrews causes slight shifts like that, and just generally make sure everything is tight
Yes it is a plunge end mill. I have tightened everything up and am running the job again. I will post the results when it completes.
