I want to beef up the Z on my LEAD1010, basically I want to add the second beam like the LEAD1515 has.
I looked at the High Z mod, but I don't need 8" of clearance 3.5" to 4" is all I need. Can I get the High Z mod kit with only 4" of clearance?

Seeing that its all modular, you can probably just mount the x beams lower.

This is a question for the parts store.

The main problem with the stock High-Z mod for a low rise application is the 500mm length of the verticals. Not so big of an issue with the side pieces but having the Z-axis stepper swinging around way up in the air for no reason is just not good design. Best suggestion would be to pull up the Sketchup models and morph existing models into what you seek. You may be able to keep with the existing 250mm Z-axis rather than spending money on the taller actuator. The only real issue you may have is the 4" clearance. Will you be able to reach all the way down to the spoil board without using excessively long bits? This is just something you need to think through. You may need platforms to bring the work up to the bit at times.

Yeah, I was hoping maybe I can get these cut to custom length, but that would include the lead screw as well.
Just would like to beef up the Z is my main goal. wouldn't have to be 4" clearance.

Not sure about the screws but the parts store will cut the extrusion to length for you. Make a note in the comments when you order. The lead screws cut readily with a hacksaw.

I guess I should ask if doing this will actually beef up the Z. Was looking at the High Z mod again and realized the router will still be hanging on only 2 wheels. There are 4 there, but the weight will all be on the top 2 pulling forward.
