Hi All, Im in the middle of yet another upgrade to my CNC Router, and I was wondering what are the best type of Anti-Backlash nuts or blocks for 8mm Lead Screws? I've come across 3 main types: 3D Printer Style: Nylon / Delrin Nut Block: Type 2 Style?: Even tho my machine is quite small (300x300mm work area), I do have some strong (for Nema 17's) 2.5A rated motors by LDO (42STH48-2504AH) driving the X/Y lead screws and Im hoping to chose a durable, but effective anti-backlash setup. Thoughts?
We’ll as 1 and 3 won’t work with a CNC router, by default number 2 wins. Routers push back as they move through the workpiece which would compress the springs in 1 and 3, causing error. 3D printers have no push back which is why they work with printers.
Cheers, I suspected that was the case and have just spent the last few mins designing some mounting blocks to replace the spring types that came with my machine. Btw, how durable are the Delrin AB blocks?
Install went smoothly, although I am yet to reinstall my lead screws and stepper motors as Im waiting on some longer stepper motor mounting bolts to arrive. I did partially insert my lead screws to confirm everything aligned properly, and thankfully it all looked good.
