Hi everyone, I’m building a cnc plasma based on the blackbox x32. I wired everything to the black box, steppers, hard limits, probe limit switch and the plasma wire. I followed the instructions from the website. I’m having problem with the plasma. When I try to start a cut the arc doesn’t start, the cnc moves but the plasma remain off. I don’t think it’s a problem of the relay because if I try to start a cut with the plasma off you can ear the relay switch on and off. I tried to fire the plasma using the botton but it doesn’t work to and when I try, sometimes the pc lose the connection with the black box and sometimes appears the alarm ” hard limit has been triggered”. My plasma is a sthalwerk cut 70p Igbt. I think that emi can be the main problem but I don’t know what can I do. Sounds like EMI for sure, the instruction are intended for router use, plasma cutting is far worse with EMI. Earth grounding the motors and frame, get the high voltage away from the controller and other low voltage systems. Also using a separate power input can help, such as having a dedicated breaker for the plasma and different breaker for the rest of the system. There is also line conditioners you can purchase for the isolation of noise on the ac line. Shielded wire with grounded shielding is another good idea on the motors and switches for plasma systems.
