Hello Certainly tried to help myself with searches, but out of ideas. Had been running my old workbee without issue, that went to a friend and finalizing a custom, open builds driven machine. So all new electronics from open builds, first time I powered it up. My issue with new machine is the Y2 is not slaving. What it will do is step one direction, then the other, then unresponsive. X & Z work fine. As well as Y Here is what I've tried: - checked all wiring, everything is nice and tight. Checked that everything is wired as it should be. Have reset or re-terminated all wiring (from a post on polarity, did reverse wiring to the motor as well, similar response) - opened black box, jumper is set to default, Y2 jumper. - I have made no changes to how the box came in terms out power to steppers (using the high torque btw) - mechanically everything is tight, nothing slipping. - in control, have used default settings for a worbee, and custom machine. Other than needing to reverse the X or Z functions do not change. - All my stops tested out, and are working I have access to my old black box, wiring than one up is next step. As well as replacing the wire. So hoping the movement might point to a solution. Again, at .01mm, it will step in one direction, reverse on the next step, then be unresponsive. One search mentioned something about an "exclamation" on that axis, somewhat confused on that. But not finding in Control where motors are identified, or confirmed to be connected. Thoughts? and thanks in advance,
Almost certainly wiring: see docs:blackbox:faq-identify-motor-coils [OpenBuilds Documentation] Exclamation Mark LED is on the BlackBox itself, see docs:blackbox:layout [OpenBuilds Documentation] section 1G Fault Indicators
Thanks Peter. I’ll go through that connection again. Replace wire. Might have a couple extra 4-pin connectors too. It was nothing obvious. But agree with you. Wanted to ensure I wasn’t missing a simple setup seething in Control
Well. Was hoping I'd self correct but hitting a wall. To date I have: Replaced the wire, re-terminated all connections, no change. Ran it on my second black box, no change Swapped motors, ran it on the new and the old black box, no change Swapped the wire again, have used both open builds wiring and a aftermarket wire, no change. I've checked wiring 10X plus. My other 6 terminations work just fine. The only thing I have not changed is the 4-prong plugs. That's next, just ran out of steam. Pulled the motors off the couplings. What it motor is doing (motors) is just kind of vibrating. Not making a full revolution, just pulsing really. I've ran through my play book. Any other thoughts?
Well, just tried the last thing, THE 4 PLUG CONNECTOR! That was it, not sure which one, but swapped out the plastic 4-prong plugs from another axis and problem gone. Like all troubleshooting, wish I would have started there. Not sure the problem with the plug, really don't care, just know its bad. Will need to order a couple more. Thanks for the input Peter, had it pegged from the start (wiring), just took me a bit to find it.
I have the same issue. Y1 motor is acting fine. When I try to turn it when connected there is quite a bit of resistance, Y2 turns easily, as in no power holding it on. when I swop connectors on Blackbox, situation reverses. Proving motors and wiring are fine. The internal jumpers are correct i.e. second from bottom, marked Y. Tried reseting to no effect and there are no alarm indicators. I have even moved the current control thinking it might be set to minimum. This is the first try of the blackbox
Please never spin a motor by hand, while it's connected to a driver. Acting like a generator when spun, it backfeeds the driver, often causing damage http://support.openbuilds.com/support/home will be able to assist with the issue
I contacted OB as suggested and got a reply to the effect that I had ordered a Muscle Board at a cost of 0.00. followed by another email saying that it had been dispatched together with a tracking number. Not sure what is going on.
Means they are sending you a new Muscle board under warranty, to replace yours where the Y2 driver seems to be dead. When you receive it, see docs:blackbox:assemblyinstructions [OpenBuilds Documentation] (disassemble, replace Muscle, reassemble)
They are sending you out a replacement muscle board which is half of the blackbox. If you remember, when you put it together there were two boards you needed to join. One is called the muscle board and one is called the brains board.
They started shipping as pre-assembled some time last year so sadly a lot of the new guys never had the fun of putting it together
I didnt have that fun iether....Problem is that I purchased my black box from Ooznest in UK. and Im pretty sure that OB dont have my address. wonder where it is going ? If it is going to Ooznest could it be redirected ?
Best to ask the store directly, the forum does not carry knowledge about the logicstics. Reply via email with your enquiry
I have received the muscle board in really amazingly quick time. Thanks for that. Now I have a different fault with which I will start a new post if I cant find an answer in the posts.
