Hi, I have the same issue since today, my cnc machine was working just fine, and after a restart of the laptop i got this message: "ERROR!: No Response from Controller - See docs:blackbox:faq-usb-connection-failed [OpenBuilds Documentation] for troubleshooting information. Closing port COM3" I also unplugged every connections, used diffrent pc and usb cable´s, installed newer software of openbuilds and drivers, nothing helps. What about a firmware update or a reinstallation of it? Is it really not possible to reflash the blackbox 4x? The machine was working just fine until today. Thank you all.
Firmware doesn't just dissappear. Flashing is possible (Wizard and tools menu). But that might be like trying to change the oil on a vehicle that's rolled over on the highway a couple times. If something killed the BlackBox flashing is not going to work. If it worked for a while then died, check wiring. Something chaffed through or came out of a terminal or similar causing a short. Metal cutting chips got into it. PSU failing caused a surge. Lightning damage. Something killed it
could an update of windows be the reason? I had my laptop and the blackbox connected and everything was working fine, than automatic windows update started and after reboot no more connection to blackbox was possible. If i connect only the blackbox to another pc, without any other cables, the led is blinking red and thats it, nothing else happens.
I tried to use wizzard tools for firmware update now but I can only select blackbox 32x or the interface in that menu… how to do it on 4x?
4X flashing currently broken, see OpenBuilds-CONTROL/CHANGELOG.txt at 7a0cbe49c650b61fc5aed45d8c52796968a22c37 · OpenBuilds/OpenBuilds-CONTROL Use an old version of CONTROL from before the AVR issues, like 1.0.370 Release v1.0.370 · OpenBuilds/OpenBuilds-CONTROL (Unlikely to succeed, if MCU was damaged connection for either grbl or flashing would fail, there's nothing to talk to if its dead)
thank you peter, you are so wonderful and I am very grateful for your efforts and trying to help us. I really want to understand what I need to avoid with next blackbox (I will order x32). I still don´t know what went wrong and killed my 4x. It worked for weeks just fine and after this windows update it is broken.... the blackbox was running and connected while windows update was done and restart happend. maybe the reebot killed the blackbox? it should not be connected to a pc and turned on, when updates are done and restart is ongoing....
Exactly the main concern. Focus efforts on finding cause. Otherwise a brand new X32 may go up in smoke with no chance of warranty once connected to the same fault Reboots, Computers etc can't physically damage BlackBox. Review Section 6.3.1 of docs:blackbox-4x:faq-usb-connection-failed [OpenBuilds Documentation] - you should switch focus to wiring, power, something electrical and physical in nature
