I'm hoping someone can help with a problem that I am having with my cnc. I was running a job yesterday (part 1 of 2) and everything was fine right up to the end of the job. machine returned to x0, y0, z+10 as usual. when I tried to move to z0 the motor hummed but no movement. I then tried to jog x and y with the same result. all 4 motors will hum but there is no movement. I have checked all connections but still no movement. sounds like a loose wire but all 4 at the same time? any suggestions would be appreciated
Hum, or whine? Power supply still delivering 24v? (check with multimeter) Hum when moving, or while stopped (if stopped do they go more quiet when a move is sent)? Grbl Settings backup for review (CONTROL > GRBL SETTINGS TAB > Backup Settings button on the main toolbar)
I'll have to pick up a multimeter to check the output they hum when stopped (as before) when I send a move the hum increases more or less depending on the amperage settings. very similar to what happens with a loose wire but this happened to all 4 motors at once. I have checked the connections
checked the voltage .... 24volts and then it suddenly started to work again... maybe a poor connection at the power input? at any rate thanks for the reply. hopefully it will continue to work
Do double check all terminals. Slightly loose terminals is a sure fire way to lose a Blackbox to a short circuit in the future. Loose terminals create high resistance connections, or wires finally pull out and short to nearby components.
