Hello everyone, I believe this is the first time I have posted here. I have an R7 with the Tinyg controller. Everything works great but I wanted better support and more features so now I have the blackbox. I can’t remember what you call it but both of my Y axes motors have to run the same direction. I was at about ¾ power on all drivers but turned them down to ½ power to make sure the motors were not over powered. That didn’t fix the problem so here it is. Y is loud and random in movement. I put the Y motor on the other 3 drivers and it worked fine. I but the X motor on the Y driver and it is loud and random. I removed the direction jumper and the Y2 motor became random in movement but not loud. Thanks for any help you can give me.
The jumper needs to be in place Make sure connectors are inserted all the way in, and that all wires are secure, none are pinching insulation. That description is typical of only 3 of the 4 wires making solid contact. It might be just loose and work if you move it to another socket Also inspect your Muscle board, just make sure there are no visible soldering issues on the socket for the offending motor input?
I disassembled the Black Box, all solder looked good, pins are all straight, no burn spots. Rechecked all connections on the motor wires. Ran all 4 of the motors on X Y Y2 and Z. All the motors failed on Y. They are loud, studder and move randomly on Y On X, Y2 and Z all 4 motors are smooth and quite.
May be an obvious question, but when you checked a motor on Y did you change the lead at the blackbox end? (always power off before disconnecting steppers from controller - you can fry a driver if you don't) Alex.
Yes, all 4 motors have their own connectors and all 4 failed on Y but not on the other 3 drivers. I was a computer tech for 6 years so I understand the importance of power off.
After checking Alex's suggestion (that you are testing with any wiring included) you can reach out to http://support.openbuilds.com/support/home - they will help you sort it out
@Jerry McClain Did you have any outcome on this problem? Probably a bit late, but I have a similar problem
