I'm having issues with my controller. everything was working fine before I tried to tram my plasma head. The only lights that light up are the usb light. Control connects to the unit but none of the axis lights light up. I didn't have my laptop in the shop so I used my drill to move the axis. Can the stepper motors feed back and cause damage to the controller?

So I guess I need to order another controller unless it can be repaired

So I have received my new X32 controller. Is there a way to download my settings to install in the new controller or will I have to go through all of the setup al over again.

Did you have a backup off the old setup? If so, simply go to CONTROL > Connect to the X32 > Grbl Settings tab > Restore backup > Select the old backup file > Save and Reset when prompted

If you can still connect to the old device, you can take a backup now (CONTROL > Connect to the X32 > Grbl Settings tab > Backup Settings button)

If the old one is no longer able to connect, or the damage corrupted the settings; and you forgot to backup, then its from scratch sadly

It appears that I can still access the old unit just doesn't move the steppers. I will try to get a backup before I remove the old unit. Does the back up save to a specific location or do I have the option to save where I want to?

Do make sure you have $4=0 on the old one - pretty sure spinning motors by drill would have generated enough backfeed voltage to kill the drivers, but do double check that profile wasn't changed from defaults while you are working on the settings.

Great then you can still grab a backup to restore onto the new one
