SO..... installed new black box x32. set the settings to lead 1515 now it will not home from the xyz block. anything I missed?
By home I'll assume that you mean probe to set zero. Go into the troubleshooting tab and test the probe by touching the magnet to the probe plate. It should change to red/triggered. If it doesnt double check your wiring until it does.
I did that. When I click the probe action button nothing happens. Then it pops error code for XYZ NEEDS VALUE G65 I think.
We'd be able to help if you provide sufficienct details: - Screenshots of any errors - Screenshots of log entries (Serial Tab) - a Grbl Settings backup
Here is what I'm working with. I changed nothing from one black box to the next. Im lost..... At this point it will not move at all. I dont know how I screwed it up. Hopping there is a way to learn and fix it at the same time.
That looks like a backup from Grbl 1.1 (BlackBox 4X) We need the new backup off GrblHAL from the X32 - to check your settings as it pertains to the new controller, which has a lot more parameters than the old one. You also forgot the Error screenshots. Those are very important.... The sooner you provide us with info, the sooner we can help you: - Grbl Settings Backup off the new controller - Screenshots of the Probe error dialog - Screenshot of Serial Log right after the error showing the section of the log where the Probe commands were being sent.
Here are the X32 settings. I attempted to redo the XYZ probe and it wont repeat. It never moves now. just sit over the start point. wires all check back good and the probe shows to be working in troubleshooter.
Screenshot of the log of the attempt that doesnt move please? If you are unsure how to take a screenshot see Open Snipping Tool and take a screenshot - Microsoft Support Click Serial Log tab, and make sure to screenshot the whole window (we'll look at other clues too not just the log, so don't crop or copy the text only. We check DROs, Controller state, alarm, queue counts, log entry, even application version etc from a proper screenshot showing the whole window)
I hope this is what you need. When I turned the power back on it wants to find the Z Hight and then stopped. So I ran it one more time and got the same ending, no movement. thank you for your time helping me through this.
Thanks, will have to look deeper into it on Monday, will revert back to you Can you please elaborate on this? When does it move Z? When you power up? When you Home? Or when you Probe?
Was it turned off with moves still in the queue? I see 19 moves in the queue there in the screenshot. Have you tried with a clean start of the computer?
Yes, to both. If I started up cold, power everything on run my homing sequence and then attempt to find my start Location using my XYZ probe nothing happens. If I close the laptop walk away, then come back like I did today and open up the laptop it’ll move to find the height. then stop once it reaches the probe.
What do you think is my problem. I have checked and rechecked the wiring. Everything checks to have good continuity from one end to the next.
Bug confirmed, see Bug: Probe queue stuck · Issue #277 · OpenBuilds/OpenBuilds-CONTROL for progress updates - should be fixed in next update - good catch! Thanks for bringing it to our attention
OK, so we've located the bug in Bug: Probe queue stuck · Issue #277 · OpenBuilds/OpenBuilds-CONTROL and have fixed it in a Firmware update: 1) Download CONTROL V1.0.339 (Must be on the latest version of CONTROL) 2) Then follow docs:blackbox-x32:firmware [OpenBuilds Documentation] to update the firmware on your BlackBox X32 3) After updating, try Probing again Let us know if you get stuck on any step
Works in testing here. If you refer the git issue you can track what the bug was and how it was fixed too. Make sure you followed the instructions exactly. (remembered to update CONTROL, made sure the Firmware update ran to completion and succesfully, etc) Closing this thread, if you need further support or return details contact us via Support > new ticket The X32 will have firmware updates regularly (unlike Grbl that stagnated for a couple years, grblHAL is a more modern - faster developing firmware adding features and bugfixes almost every day) - see docs:blackbox-x32:firmware_changelog [OpenBuilds Documentation]
