I've had about 10 jobs stop half way through - around 90 minutes - with the following error: [ websocket ] Disconnected. OpenBuilds CONTROL possibly quit or crashed [ ] error: 11 - Max characters per line exceeded. Line was not processed and executed. [ G1 X108.211 Y163.013 ] Yesterday I was getting error 24 but that might have been because I was reading a gcode file over a network, not from the local computer connected to Blackbox via USB. I can't get any jobs completed since I've had this set up. What's error 11? Sounds like the wifi connection timing out? Should I remove wifi credentials from the grbl settings? For clarity, this job is running over USB with the gcode stored locally on the connected PC.
Are you connected via WiFi or USB. USB is always the bettee option, so if it was Wifi, try USB If however it was USB, try a different PC
Connected via USB. I have hooked up my gaming PC and will attempt the job. If that works, are you saying there are minimum specs required for the PC to run a job? If so, what are they? Secondly, what is the point of the SD card slot? The only use I have found is to use it via the Web UI which seems flaky at best and I can't see any way to access the SD card using CONTROL. Wouldn't it be ideal to have the gcode stored on the SD card on the Blackbox to reduce file transfer failures?
Not quite minimum spec related, but a second PC helps as a test to see if its PC related or not. USB hub/chipset/ftdi/etc drivers or hardware onboard SD card: CONTROL will eventually include a little more support for it, couple features in the pipeline. Comms issues are quite rare, streaming has other advantages in terms of more control mid-job than SD allows etc. If you have tried a different PC, Also see the EMI FAQ in the Blackbox Docs. EMi can cause serial corruption too. Also make sure you followed steps 4.1 and 4.2
OK so the second PC seems to be fine. Must be an issue somewhere with the hardware in the first one I tried. Does INTERFACE solve this problem? As in no computer required, no communication issues etc?
Yes that is the case, see the demo video under the Run a Job section of docs.openbuilds.com/interface Anything is subject to some issues from time to time. Interface is no less immune than a computer. A well built machine won't emit any meaningful EMI, so both will be equally reliable in that respect
