Hi I am currently making my own CNC machine based on the OpenBuilds 1010. I purchased two Blackbox controllers. One to just experiment with. I connected one of the BlackBoxes up over the weekend and tried some movement. My fault I let my movement set to 1", My Y Axis twisted and I noticed that only one montor was turning. When I tried to turn the flexible coupling of each motor all were tight apart from the one I suspected did not move (Y2) I swapped Y2 with Y just to make sure the motors were okay and then were. I then swapped the Blackbox controller for my spare and everything worked fine. I therefore suspect a problem with my Blackbox but I was just wondering if there was anything I could check before deeming it faulty? Many thanks
1) While i do hear you that replacing the box sorted it, do not rule out wiring. Loose terminal, pinched insulation, can show up as intermitted, tugging on the wires while replacing could make it make contact again, but in a day or two wiggle loose again. Redo the connections on your Y2 motor wiring all the way at every extension to make sure: See docs:blackbox:faq-identify-motor-coils [OpenBuilds Documentation] 2) Check that the Y2 Jumpers is set correctly docs:blackbox:jumper-slaveaxis [OpenBuilds Documentation] 3) Check that the Y2 Driver didn't go into Protection mode from a short, overtemp, overcurrent condition: See docs:blackbox:currentadjustment [OpenBuilds Documentation] - would light a red exclamation mark LED on the front for the relevant axis
