    Hello!

I want to get some Axis limit switches and want to confirm the cable length I would need.

    Xtension Limit Switch

How is length determined? On the first number we have an ~80% cable length addition based on the axis length. The second has a ~113% length addition and the third is 165% longer than the axis.

    500mm Axis needs 3' cable (914mm)
    1000mm Axis needs 7' cable (2133mm)
    1500mm Axis needs 13' cable (3962mm)

    So, for a 3000mm axis, do I need a 26' cable? What about for a 4000mm axis?

The installation video does not shed much light on the relationship between axis length and cable length.

    Please help!

Not much of a relation, always a little extra (better to trim off than run short). Don't forget about planning for runs inside cable chains etc

Take a LEAD for example - wire for a switch or motor on Z axis, that has to go down the Z, run along with the X axis, with the extra length its cable chain needs particularly in X where it does that doubled over loop, across to the Y end plates, and then through the Y cable chain (again needs a little extra for the loop where it bends at end of travel) and finally enough left over to reach the controller (usually mounted at back of machine, but some folks mount it on the wall, some in an enclosure, etc)

So "axis length" not as much a relation, its more of a plan to get it from where it is to where it needs to go, and the road it needs to take
