Hello everyone i am very new in cnc machining.

but i decided to build a CNC Router. What I am wondering about is the controller board.

I already Have "mks robin nano v3 32 bit"

The main Question is why should I buy an expensive Controller board instead of what I already have?
What is the advantage of for example "Black box" or CNC xPRO V4 Controller ect.

That board may not work because stepper motor drivers are usually made for small stepper motors made for 3D printers. CNC routers usually have larger stepper motors that require more-powerful stepper motor drivers.

    I already Have powerful drivers. DM542 Supply voltage: 20 - 50 VDC ( For nema 23 )
and my board voltage is 24 Volt.

Could there still be a problem?

The question would then be: which sounds right for a Beginner?

Option A) plug and play controller with proper CNC firmware, software toolchains, and tech support. Warranty and awesome documentation. Preconfigured machine profiles and a host of ready to use accessories.

    Versus

Option B) Using a board not meant for the application, using a 3d printing firmware to try to CNC, using 3D printing host software to try to setup CNC jobs, with a hard time finding post processors for CNC CAMs to output gcode for a 3DP firmware, all the mess of wiring external drivers to a board that is not meant for use with external drivers, and no one to ask for help when things go wrong.

That, is your choice as a beginner and how much frustration you can bare before you decide to get upset.

Remember the folks on here will also always be happy to help but a more standardised setup will just help you and your learning curve and those that you will likely need to help you later on

Okay i kinda get it what`s goin on.

But I have another Question now.

I saw your post about controller boards. and in the list is

    Ramps 1.4
Arduino Mega Pololu Shield - RepRap

It means I must use an Arduino mega as Controller board.

What does the Arduino Mega have that the Robin (controller board I have already) doesn't have?

That why i am confiused. o_O

In fact, consider CNC Electronics Bundle
If you pair the wrong motors, and cheap switches, and wrong type of wire, a low quality PSU, etc - it will also not be awesome. Get the proven bundle so it all plays perfectly together - as beginner friendly as it gets
