I have a Lead 1010 purchased used. There is a clicking sound coming from the Y axis. It's more noticeable when moving towards the stepper motors. There seems to be an inordinate amount of play at the bearings on the front opposing the steppers. I tried tightening the bearing collar to the bearing but that did not help. Is it possible that these bearings are worn and in need of replacement? Thanks

The bearings really only need to constrain the leadscrew axially (along its length) - the diameter of the leadscrew is smaller than the ID of the bearing, to ease assembly - thats usually where the noise comes from. You can shim it up if the noise is bothersome, just a little tape, or shim stock between bearing ID and Leadscrew's OD in the bearing.

Thanks. I’ll give that a try.
