Hi I just built my first CNC a LEAD 1010, I cut the Hello World using a 1/4" end mill, It appears to be too big of a bit for the job. My question is what is the correct bit or can I enlarge the file to cut it bigger and use the bit I have. I found no data for this anywhere, Thanks
I am not familiar with the file, but you could open it in a CAD program like Fusion 360 and measure the diameter of the smallest curve/corner to determine the bit size. If I had to guess though, I would bet it is for a 1/8" endmill.
On the right under Toolpaths, you can Edit the toolpaths and set Endmill Diameter, then Generate Gcode again - the default is indeed a 1/8th and that is discussed in the Hello World video tutorial But you can always view/edit CAM parameters: Each toolpath has an edit button: And inside the parameters, you can view , or change any of the parameters to your hearts desire Apply, updates the preview Then click Generate Gcode
Oh, and it would be a worthy investment to get a couple different endmills: Order from SharkBits Products - OpenBuilds Part Store Also get yourself a nice holder: SharkBits Holder to organize them in
