CNC + Laser combo

    Do you think it would be possible to build an OX with a spindle on one side of the X gantry(like you normally see) and add a laser to the other side? Since the X-stepper is mounted high enough, I think you could fit a laser underneath it. That way, you wouldn't have to remove/change the Z-axis stepper/mount when switching over.

    Has anyone already done this? Is it possible?

    I like the idea of putting it on the opposite side of the gantry to at least provide a bit more 'balance'. The spindle adds a lot of weight to one side which probably adds a bit of deflection, etc. If I needed a fan to cool the laser, I'd have more room on the other side. I'm still researching. ;)
