Hello I am new here, but wanting to add a Laser to my table. I have a Cnc4nnewbie 4848 with VFD 2.2kw air spindle running off Uccnc to the Gecko G540. The 4 axis all have Nema 23 269oz. stepper motors. I have purchased an OPT laser with Lightburn and would like to use Vcarve laser module. I am starting to think holding on to Uccnc is not going to happen since lasers do not want to play well with it. I have looking at the CNC Electronic Bundle in the shop, should I replace mine with the high torque oe will I be fine? is this all I would need to get running again?
To determine if you can reuse your existing motors, check your motors' electrical specs: BlackBox will work best with motors that have 3-6v coil voltage (higher = slower acceleration), 1-4mH inductance (any higher and they will be slower on top speeds) and 1.7-3.2A Current (rated much higher will be low on torque). I just ordered the CNC Electronics Bundle with new high torque motors and the interface CNC touch. I have been trying to figure out how to and where to mount as the old controller is in back under the table will I need to touch the black box once everything is hooked up?
Normally no, can hide it out of sight, at the back or something.
