I am using a 20x80 v-slot rail with solid delrin v wheels for the Y axis on a prusa style 3d printer. I have started noticing some black particles on the rail and some wear on the wheels they have been in daily use for a couple of months. It's not enough that I can feel any play yet. Just trying to figure out if this is normal or if I have an assembly error. Should I be using some kind of lubrication between the wheels and the v-slot?
Sounds normal for that amount of use. Clean up the rails real good with a nonabrasive cloth. Denim may work to clear up the marks. Apply a light touch of any lubricant... besides graphite. Recheck the compression on the eccentrics. Joe
Silicon based works best, and for cleaning you might use WD40 and wipe it off when you are done. Not all lubricates work, some might affect the hardness of the material, so does UV light . You might think it's funny, but I use old socks to clean up the V-Slot/C-beam/OpenRail . -Ronald
