I finally got around to cleaning up my electronics and mounted them on my machine. I have the meanwell powersupply and BlackBox x32. Everything was running fine BEFORE I needed to create a shorter power cable since my powersupply and blackbox are mounted near each other. I made a cable but switched the + and - going to the BlackBox. The power supply came on, but the BlackBox does not. No lights, nothing.

Is there a reset somewhere inside? a fuse? any ideas how to recover??

    !@#$%^

    Thanks

Reverse polarity can sadly destroy it. If its not powering up anymore, it is sadly done

Any chance of replacing it under warranty? Any way to fix it? It is less than 2 weeks old. Not happy

Sadly wiring mistakes are excluded from warranty.

    OpenBuilds Warranty

Warranty is for material defects, factory related issues.

This seems like a poor design that can be easily fixed.

Simple Solutions for Reverse Polarity Protection.

when you are providing products for people building things from scratch, you need to anticipate problems. Looking thru the forums I see a lot of people did the same stupid thing I did by accident. I can’t see investing another $250 to get another black box when it is so fragile

BlackBox has a reverse blocking diode at the input. Reversed polarity should throw the Meanwell into Protection mode.

Going by what you are saying of it not powering up anymore, something happened (or you still dont have the cable correct, perhaps wires under instead of inside terminals, or something else entirely) . But that is based on the info you provide, we assume you already rechecked cables etc. But still, even with protection, not checking your wiring is sadly a reckless action. Double check the new cable

How do you get the power supply out of protection mode?

As soon as the short (blocking diode looks like a short when reverse polarity is applied) is removed

    Could
I just coiled my excess cable up and zip-tied it to an eye hook. Here’s a pic.
