I am building an OX to cut thick rubber backed fabric. I will be using an ultrasonic cutting knife. Would like to use the 3rd axis for turning the cutting head (tangential drag knife). Mach 3 does this. Are there any cheaper alternatives?
Hi Rick, Mach3 can do this but it has problems with the tangential control with regard to complete circles and dependant on the toolpath created by the CAM software. There are work-arounds such as making the start point of each circle in the same direction or creating lead-in's (in the CAM software) with the same radius as the circle. Both these methods work but can be quite tiresome to do for every layout required. Tweakie.
